Prezados amigos,
Mais uma vez agradeço todas as colocações e pretendo me interar mais sobre as bolsas do Quebec. O custo do curso de pós-graduação on-line é bastante acessível, em torno de 4 a 6 mil dólares dependendo das matérias que eu cursar. De qualquer forma, este curso serve mais como um certificado e cursos online tem a desvantagem de não aumentar o networking.
De qualquer forma, eu resolvi ir atrás de maiores referencias sobre esta universidade e vou compartilhar com vocês as respostas recebidas.

CICIC assists persons who want to know how to obtain an assessment of their educational, professional, and occupational credentials by referring them to the appropriate bodies. It collects, organizes, and distributes information and acts as a national clearing house and referral service to support the recognition and portability of Canadian and international educational and occupational qualifications. CICIC also provides some information on postsecondary education in Canada and abroad.
CICIC does not itself grant equivalencies or assess credentials, nor does it intervene on behalf of individuals or in appeals. While colleges, universities, and licensing bodies have the sole authority to recognize foreign programs and degrees, CICIC fosters the dissemination of information about recognition procedures, promotes fair and consistent practice in credentials assessment, and serves as a link for Canadian academic and professional bodies to international organizations and to information centres around the world.

Thank you for your e-mail to the Ministry of Advanced Education (AVED) requesting information about the reputation and/or accreditation of the Certificate in Environmental Practice at Royal Roads University in the Province of British Columbia.
Canada does not have a national or regional accreditation system for post-secondary institutions and therefore educational jurisdictions, except in some limited circumstances, do not normally employ the term “accredited” to denote provincially authorized or recognized institutions. The term “accreditation” has limited meaning in British Columbia . It is used mostly by professional bodies when referring to their evaluation of specific university or college programs.
Since post-secondary education falls under provincial, rather than national, jurisdiction, each province uses its own quality assurance processes to ensure the legitimacy of institutions. In British Columbia, AVED is responsible for giving consent to degree programs. Royal Roads University is a legitimate, publicly funded post-secondary institution. While AVED provides funding for British Columbia’s public post-secondary institutions, these institutions operate under provincial legislation which provides that the boards of the institutions have jurisdiction over all matters relating to the management and administration of the institutions, including admissions requirements.
Post-secondary education is the key to your future, so it is vital you make choices that are a good investment of your time and money, and that can lead you to your goals. Students in British Columbia have many institutions and programs to choose from. It is your responsibility as a student to ensure the program and institution you choose is a good fit with your educational priorities and expectations. SORS is a decision-support tool that contains eleven years of data from the BC College and Institute Student Outcomes Survey project. Institutional researchers at colleges, university colleges, and institutes and decision makers at AVED use SORS to explore the data, structure their own queries and make custom reports. The tool’s user-friendly interface makes it possible for non-technical users to obtain answers to their specific policy or research questions. The tool contains institution-specific data, as well as provincial summary data, and is updated every year. While the Student Outcomes Survey has changed over the last ten years, every effort has been made to ensure that data are reported consistently and that indicators are calculated identically over time. Ola Pessoal,
Primeiramente gostaria de agradecer a atenção do pessoal e a presteza das respostas. É muito bom encontrar companheiros nesta grande jornada (ou, mais precisamente, projeto) de imigração.
Eu estou ciente que como residente permanente do Quebec, os custos são bem menores. Eu apliquei pelo quebec e meu visto chegou mês passado. Eu e minha esposa ( que é fisioterapeuta e instrutora de pilates) vamos viajar para o Canadá para uma viagem de reconhecimento em dezembro. Desta forma, mesmo que eu estude na Royal Roads, pagaria taxa de estudante canadense.
Eu sou engenheiro sanitarista e ambiental e atualmente trabalho com estudos de impacto ambiental e gestão ambiental. A idéia de fazer um curso a distância é já possuir um certificado que me abra as portas do mercado de trabalho no Canadá. Eu procurei em várias universidades (principalmente nas mais conhecidas), mas não encontrei muitos cursos não presenciais. A McGill, a Politécnica e a Concórdia possuem programas muito interessantes, mas todos presenciais.
Pesquisando no site: ww.eco.ca – Environmental Careers Organization – encontrei um link para o site http://www.ccee.ca.
O ECO.ca me pareceu uma organização interessante. Nele, encontrei vários “job offers” e estudos sobre o mercado de trabalho e esta organização é composta por várias empresas de tamanho considerável. O ccee é o Canadian Centre for environmental education e é uma parceria entre o ECO.ca e a Universidade Royal Roads. Como fruto desta parceria surgiu o curso que eu estou interessado: Certificate in Environmental Practice (http://www.ccee.ca/certificate.aspx)Dentro do publico alvo deste curso, estão os imigrantes que se interessam em ter uma certificação antes de colocar o pé no canadá (que no meu caso, a mudança final está prevista para meados de 2008). O que vocês acham ?

Eu e minha esposa vamos fazer uma viagem de reconhecimento em dezembro (provavelmente partiremos dia 26 ou 27). Porém, apesar de termos o visto permanente, vamos ainda ter de retornar ao Brasil antes de ficarmos definitivamente no Canadá. Posso fazer parte da sua lista ?

No Canadá, assim como nos EUA, existem centenas de resorts de ski. Só no Quebec existem mais de 30. Veja este site para a lista de estações de ski: http://www.skiresorts.com/skiresorts/Resorts/Resort_List.asp?id=59
Normalmente a remuneração é baixa ( similar a outros survival jobs + benefits… ). Existem algumas posições que até são bem remuneradas, como instrutor de ski (principalmente por causa das gorjetas…). Quando eu trabalhei nos EUA, eu vendia ticket. Era um serviço bem tranqüilo e pagava perto de US$ 9 por hora (Como eu disse, é survival job). Mas recomendo pela diversão. O período de trabalho é durante a estação de inverno (Novembro a Abril). Experiência depende do emprego. Por exemplo, no meu caso o único requisito era falar o idioma. Se quiser trabalhar como garçom, precisará de experiência ou terá que trabalhar em uma posição de auxiliar.

Ola Pessoal,
Gostaria de me apresentar também. Meu nome é Erico. Eu sou engenheiro Sanitarista e Ambiental e pretendo ir para o Canadá juntamente com minha esposa Josiane, que é fisioterapeuta especializada em Pilates. Temos 25 anos, ambos recém-formados e atualmente residimos em Florianópolis. Não sabemos onde vamos morar lá no Canadá. Já estamos da parte federal do processo de imigração, mas ainda temos algumas dúvidas e incertezas. Por isso, estamos pesquisando e planejando sobre cada etapa do nosso projeto de imigração.
Eu já morei anteriormente no exterior, sendo 1 anos na Nova Zelândia como intercambista do Rotary em 1999 e 4 meses nos EUA através do programa Work Experience, onde trabalhei em uma estação de Ski.
